  • Integrated studies of the coherence properties of pulsed laser radiation using the developed slab interferometer and other methods were carried out; experiments for the registration of interference patterns and laser beam coherence measurements at the PICO facility in various modes of operation were performed.
  • Devices for automated registration of interference patterns with the view of investigating laser radiation coherence and methods of studying the correlation of radiation coherence and the spatially temporal structure of the laser beam were developed.
  • Measurements of the structure of laser radiation in the far-field region were carried out; the speckle structure of the beam, determined by the high coherence of laser radiation, was found.
  • The prepulse formation system and the laser prepulse formation system were developed for symmetrization of ablation pressure during the heating of thin-walled targets modelling those in LTF experiments.
  • The structure of the heating laser beam on the surface of a target (the homogeneity of irradiating the target) in various regimes of laser operation (duration of laser pulse and energy of laser radiation were varied) was studied.
  • Studies of the homogeneity of heating thin-walled (0.5–10 μm) targets at different spatial structures of the heating laser beam without and with the effect of the prepulse on the target  were carried out.
  • Studies of the effect of the prepulse on the homogeneity of heating of the target under various experimental conditions were carried out (energy, duration and time of delay of the heating pulse were varied with respect to the prepulse); studies aimed at the development of ablation symmetrization methods and an increase of the efficiency of heating the thin-walled targets at the effect of the prepulse were performed.
  • Studies of explosive and anomalous emission of electrons from laser plasma and measurements of the spectra of charged particles from laser plasma were carried out.
  • An investigation of rigid X-ray radiation generated in laser plasma during the heating by the laser radiation of picosecond and nanosecond duration was carried out.
