Formation of the Sector and main directions of research

The Sector was initially organized as a department in 1979. The main directions of research of the Sector are:
  • the theory of resonance interaction of radiation with matter and laser theory
  • development of the theory of new regimes of operation of excimer, semiconductor, X-ray and free-electron lasers
  • the theory of interaction of radiation with Bose condensates of atoms in traps; development of the theory of new methods of forming compressed states of light and new optical frequency standards
  • development of the theory of new heterogeneous media containing nanoparticles, and theoretical studies on nanoplasmonics and laser nanotechnology
